All about A Dark Passenger
Character Name:  Caldwell Fitchley
Race:  Homo sapiens
Gender:  Male
Place of Origin:  Denver, Colorado
Can Be Found:
Profession:  High school history teacher
Appearance:  Caldwell Fitchley, or as his students at Cottonwood High School called him "Mr. Fitch", seemed to have the perfect life. He was a successful teacher at one of the best schools in the entire country, a devoted husband, and recently, a loving father.

But there had always been a little touch of madness, a tiny taint of darkness, in his soul. He lived on the edge of propriety--from flirting with his more attractive female students, to teaching controversial subjects, to the occasional boys only weekends filled with booze, drugs, and women who were not his wife.

Drawn to his Celtic roots, Fitch had always had an interest in the mythos of Ireland and considered himself an expert on the pantheon of gods who existed before Saint Patrick came to Eirin. He had read every book he could find on the Tuatha D Danann, the Fomoiri, even the Fir Bholg. But the one god who occupied his interest most was Cromm Cruach, an old god who was propitiated with human sacrifice, namely first born sons.

Fitch often fantasized about having the sort of power that Cromm Cruach had--power over weather, over crops, over kings and armies. Then one day, while browsing through his favorite antiquarian book store, he stumbled across a copy of the Lebar-na-hUidhre, originally written in the twelfth or thirteenth century. He immediately bought it, took it home, and began his translations.

After six months of painstaking translation from the original Irish Gaelic, Fitch finally found what he had been searching for for as long as he could remember. He had found a spell, an invocation, for Cromm Cruach. On Hallowe'en night, under a full moon in the mountains just west of his suburban Denver home, Fitch invoked the ancient god...

And was surprised when he received an answer.
