Crews were hard at work all day so that when the festival goers approached the field near the Southern Glen later tonight, it would look perfect.
There are several paths that lead through the thick forest of trees, the ground lush with growing ferns and the sound of trickling brooks in the air, to the field itself. The way is not marked by paved stones or even a clearly beaten path. Instead, Faerie lights hanging from trees mark the several different ways one might get to the center of fun this evening.
Many would murmur warnings, as they approached the field, against looking directly for too long at those lights; it is said that Faerie lights can enchant, drawing one into a dream state often not remembered later.
The field itself is busy with much to look at and be seen.
At the northern center, shaded beneath the outstretched boughs of several ancient trees, a dais has been erected for the May Queen and her Green Man. Atop it is a throne for the great Queen formed of tree branches and apparently cushioned with moss. An assortment of lilys--representing Majesty--are twined throughout the throne and scattered across the dais itself.
Directly before the throne, several yards out, is the main fire for the night. It remains unlit until the Queen of May and her Green Man do the honors for everyone. Around the rest of the clearing, there are many other fires; however, none are so large and grand as the one at the center of the field.
To the right of the main fire, there is a gathering of rocks that seem perfectly shaped for sitting. Here, throughout the night, will be an assortment of musicians, bards, and storytellers to keep the festival-goers entertained. Above the rocks, tied in the trees, are lanterns to illuminate the faces of the entertainers and their instruments for them.
Across the field from the section set out for entertainers, and somewhat removed from the main fire, is a line of booths with similar lanterns hanging from them to help them stand out in the night. Here is where food, drink, and a few games can be found. Amongst the booths are a Kissing Booth and a Dunking Booth, both run to help profit the Riverview Clinic.
Much of the drink served at any of the booths has been, as in previous years, spiked with a powerful aphrodisiac. In addition, there is a generous provision of Faerie Wine. Anyone who asks for it will usually get a knowing smile from the server and a warning that those not accustomed to such drink and those for whom it is not made (mortals) may find the affects quite.. different from normal wine.
There have been a few picnic tables set up to the south of the booths for those who wish to sit, dine, and enjoy watching others at their revelries.
The entire clearing has been placed under a strong enchantment for the night, ensuring that--even if there is foul weather--the clearing will remain under perfect conditions throughout the event.
[]Hopefully the event will start at 9:30pm eastern as promised. If real life conditions prevent that from happening, please have patience--I will be there! Also, a lack of a Host should not prevent anyone from enjoying the setting as they like until one does arrive. Any questions can be directed my way. Enjoy![] _________________ You've got your pretty face. You've got disarming eyes.
