The Rhy'Din marketplace is a bustling place. Well-known shops and stalls line the main streets and crowds of people pass them each day.

But not every shop stands on the main thoroughfare: If you're willing to go a little out of your way, down an alley or two you may find yourself following the sound of a hammer striking iron over the murmur of the crowd.

When you reach the source of the sound, you find yourself in a fair sized blacksmith's stall. A few items are on display, a pair of shields that are of fair make: Serviceable but not works of art, certainly. Basic swords populate a rack near the shields, and a single helm done in the face of a demon or ogre sits upon a wooden display. All of these items sit behind a modest counter that sits in front of the forge: The forge and the shop are not separated.

The man at the forge is not the proprietor: The owner spends as much time out of the forge as possible. The man at the forge looks up to greet you with a nod and a word: Not the most loquacious person.

He wipes his black-stained hands on a cloth he removes from a back pocket and approaches the counter. He is perhaps six and a half feet tall, and of the kind of build that comes in his line of work. His head is shaved bald and a short black beard covers his chin. A series of small dot-like burns are visible on his face and neck, none of which are particularly large or serious.

He is terse but not rude as he explains that he cannot make legendary, magic or heroic suits of armor or swords, but if you need a horse shod, an iron bound chest or door, plows or simple equipment, you'll be hard-pressed to find better quality for the price.

That helmet isn't for sale.
