"It's not fair Daddy! Daniel always gets to go do things and I get left out!" Cieara pouted with arms folding in front and gave a little huff.

"Cieara, the Market is not the sort of place for a young lady." Lucius rumbled in response while looking across the desk at his daughter.

"Dad-dy! I haven't left the grounds in nearly two weeks! Two whole weeks! Why can't I go too? I want to know about such things also." She quickly switched tracks and turned wide pleading pale green eyes upon her father.

"Alright Little Sweet, but you will have to promise not to wander off. You will stay with your brother, myself or the guards without question." Realizing she likely wouldn't let it go, he gave in, but wasn't pleased.

While she hated the idea of being hovered over, she also recognized that her father was serious. Threats to family made him more determined then ever, but he was willing to bend a little. It was more then she had hoped. "I can do that Daddy. I won't wander off, I promise." Of course, Cieara didn't wait around either. Dashing over to press a kiss to her father's cheek, she took off out the door before he could add more.

"Cie? One more moment please." He knew her tactics, for she was his own daughter and just rocked back in his large chair with steel-gray eyes resting upon his offspring.
A reluctant stop and she looked back over a shoulder. "Yes Daddy?"

"You will need to dress the part of a noblewoman." Watching the look moving over her face at that demand with a stoic expression.

"Ah, oh. Okay Daddy, I can do that." The surprise faded to a slight sulk, but she did quickly erase that and her auburn head moved in a nod. Wisely aware that he really didn't want her going along, but was bending a bit, thus she could make the same effort herself.

"We leave tomorrow morning early. If you are not ready, I will leave you behind." Again, he tone was one that would allow little flexibility on that subject.

"I'll be ready Daddy. Thank you! " Darting out she took off down the halls, already mentally listing everything she would need to pack. She had been livid when Daniel had told her where he was going with their father and she hadn't been invited. While it was true she did love her home, lately she was restless and wanted a change of scenery, but with the current bounties on her head, she had been kept in. It was making her a little moody, so she had decided to confront her father, and for once he had relented.

Of course she knew if she stepped one foot out of place, Lucius would be less likely to allow her such liberties again for a while, so she did intend to keep her promise, much as she disliked it. So now, she had to pack and prepare.

"Ye will be sure she does stay close aye?" Nimble fingers unlaced the snug braid and in moments a cascade of thick black hair was unbound before Fiona glanced over a shoulder at her husband.

"Of course." Was his reply as heavy leather boots were kicked off and placed to the side of the bed.

"Nae sure I like this Love, however, tis better then her trying to sneak off." She commented as she pulled a brush through the long dark locks of rich black hair.

"Aye, that was the same thing I thought. Knowing her, she would try and follow behind if I didn't allow her to come. This way, I believe she will not wander about. She did promise to behave." Undressed he was sliding into the large bed and pulling the warm covers up about his waist and then laid back with arms behind his head to watch his wife with glittering gray eyes.

"Aye, ye likely be right about that." Fiona knew their daughter was a willful young woman, and was sure Lucius had handled things correctly. "Perhaps ye should tell her to look for one that can be a ladies maid. With Allanah taking on more healing duties, it is something Cieara will need eventually." Having laid the brush down to the side, she twisted around to gaze at him and smiled. The movement causing the green silk robe to slide off one pale shoulder but she wasn't aware of that.

"Good idea Love." He on the other hand was, and in moments, was tumbling his wife into the bed with a quick embrace and playful growl, followed quickly by her amused laughter.

Ivory Flails was a remote location, in the region of Piol some distance from any major city, but was a hub for marketing. Due to its nature as a Neutral realm, many could move about freely, even in times of war. Of course, the other aspect of it's purpose did make such things as portals forbidden, so travel there would take about six to eight hours, depending upon the weather. It was located across the sea from the realms of Gharnholme's current holdings; so all preparations were made before they traveled.

Even before the sun rose to cast it's glow upon the sharp peeks and mountains that surrounded the keep, fifty men had already assembled, the slave cart loaded with the few girls Luc was going to sell and Cieara, who was sitting on her travel trunk waiting for the rest of the family going, to make their appearance. She was even wearing a dress and a warm cloak for the coming travel, and also matched the tooled gloves on her small hands.

Lucius wasn't surprised but he was amused, as he stepped out to see his youngest waiting already. She must of gotten up very early or maybe not even slept to be sure she didn't get left behind. "Morning Little Sweet. I see your ready."

"Aye Daddy. Just waiting on you." Her response was chipper and pale green eyes twinkled merrily up at her father. She had actually slept some, but was excited enough that she had woken easily.

Unlike his sister, Daniel wandered out looking as if he could use a few more hours of sleep and just looked around with gloomy eyes. "Mornin'." He muttered then passed his bags over to one of the servants doing the loading.

The sound of bells announced her arrival as Myrialla swept out of the keep doors with an arm full of travel blankets and a warm smile. "Morning me Lovelies. I have breakfast in a basket for later. So we be ready?"

"Aye Love." Leaning down Lucius brushed a kiss to the small woman's lips and smiled. "You look lovely."

Myrialla looked elegant in the sweeping skirts of her position, the pale green silks not only pretty but also warm. At his words she gave a soft melodic laugh and stroked Luc's cheek. "Thank ye M'Sweet."

With stunning efficiency the party was ready, as Luc assisted his daughter and Myrialla into the carriage and then joined his men on horse back and followed by his son, also mounting up on his black steed.

Of course Cieara wasn't happy being regulated to the carriage, but as she was getting to go, she didn't voice her irritation. She knew it was for her own safety but would rather be on horseback too and let the wind dancing through her hair, verses the stuffy cab.

It took little time for them to pass through the portal into the city of Ralia. It was a lovely place that was held a bustling force of trade and being neutral, nearly every racial class was represented there. Which it's appearance showed in the various styles and grand steeples it was famous.

It also took some time to travel through the crowded streets to truly begin the journey, but once they hit open road, the pace did increase. Though Cieara soon became bored of the landscape, she did find watching the storm clouds in the distance interesting as they rolled closer. Unfortunately it was some distance away and didn't hold her interest for long and soon she was lulled to sleep with the rocking of the carriage and Myrialla's soft humming.

Jerked from slumber some time later, she shifted under Daniel's hand as he pushed her over. "Move Cie. I'm getting soaked here." Sitting up and giving him the space he demanded, she rubbed her sleep eyes noticing her father had also joined. Obviously, while she had been resting, the storm apparently had caught up.

A hiss as Daniel brushed rain away from his hair and splattered her, which earned him a poke, but before they could start to bicker, Myri was passing him a towel to dry himself with. Following that with some of the goodies from her basket, which effectively stalled out the two young people from a tussle.

"We should be there in another three hours, depending on this storm." Luc commented, as he stretched out his long legs in the roomy carriage.

"So you're just going there to sell Daddy?" Cieara asked, realizing she hadn't bothered to find out before she had made her request.

"Yes Cie. I will also look around and if I find a girl I like, I might make a purchase. You also should look around. With Allannah taking up more healing duties, she will not be as available to act as a Ladies Maid." He commented while taking the mug from Myri's hand and then drank of the mulled wine she had brought.

Brushing back his own wet auburn hair, Luc settled his gaze on Daniel then. "It is also possible for Daniel to add to his own chain if he finds one suitable." Daniel's sullen and silent state had not gone unnoticed, and Luc felt that a new girl might help the young man's flagging energy.

Looking from her father to her brother, she just shrugged, not sure what was going on there. Felt she may not want to ask, but lately, hadn't really had much time to even talk to her brother. He was often off and away, doing something and she wasn't privy to everything. She hadn't spent any time with him since that night after Tasha had been hurt by some vampire and suspected that had made her exile even harder.

Once the talk fell to plans for the coming war, she drifted off into a light sleep, one again lulled to rest with the rocking of the carriage. Jarred awake sometime later with the sudden stop, she found her head resting on her brother's shoulder and just yawned, and smiled at her father before sitting up with a stretch. "We there yet Daddy?"

"Nearly Little Sweet. Passing into the gates once the papers are inspected." Luc replied quietly, while he lightly stoked Myrialla's hair, her head resting on his leg as she also slept.

"Are we going directly to the Market then?" Cieara asked as she leaned to peer out into the still murky light, taking in the sight of the place with some surprise. She had expected it to be somewhat uncivililzed but it wasn't. In fact it looked quite pretty from this distance with white washed walls and gleaming spires in the distance.

Gazing at his daughter and her ever-constant questions with an indulgent smile on his hard features. "First thing in the morning. It's a long trip and with the foul weather sales and acquisitions are likely poor."

"Oh. So where we staying Daddy?" Head turning about to lean out the window, only to be pulled back in sharply by her brother's hand. "What did you do that for?" She snapped, rubbing her arm where his hand had dug in.

"You forget about that bounty Cie?" He growled right back with a sullen look shot at his father, for having not stopped her from doing that.

Luc of course had been about to say something but had been cut off at his son's swift action and just smirked with one hand rising to stroke his auburn whiskers.

"Dad's seal is displayed on the carriage Cie. You sticking out your head is only going to draw even more attention."

"Well, excuse me if I wanted to see the place!" Frowning, not at all sure what his problem was and just rolled her eyes, still rubbing at her arm.

"Your brother is right Cieara." Thus ending any further squabbling. "Think before you do more looking, for there might some here looking for you as well." Knowing well the bounty placed on both his children and that thought brought and even darker frown to his lean features.

Once the conveyance rocked and once more was moving over the cobbled street, Lucius watched as his children settled back, both shooting each other annoyed and resentful looks, which ended with Cieara muttering. "Grumpy."

Shaking his head and just sent quelling looks at both of them and each instantly stopped with an uneasy silence settling. Broken only when Myri sat up suddenly with a hand pushing the heavy fall of autumn curls out of her face.

"Why are ye two snipping? Be it the long ride or just a need to annoy ye father?" Suspecting a touch of both working on the pair. Cieara she knew it was being cooped up that drove her, but Daniel was the puzzle yet completed and it was him her turquoise eyes rested on. His response was a surprise for it was a shrug followed by the turning of his dark head to glower out the window.

"I hate being in the carriage Myri, you know that." Cieara replied, shifting on the bench seat and one small-gloved hand tugging at the skirts. "Besides, this dress keeps catching on something."

"I will put a travel rug down on it for the trip back then Cieara. Until then, do try and hold your temper." Myrialla's delicate fingers wrapping about Luc's uncovered hand and giving a squeeze, as she could sense he wasn't delighted with carriage travel either. However, it wouldn't look very good for the Lord of Gharnholme to arrive wet and covered in mud as his commander was. While he didn't really care what others might think, he was learning that appearances could make a difference in regards to business.

Returning the press to Myri's hand, Luc didn't comment but his steel-gray eyes narrowed at his son's behavior, but sensing Daniel was trying to goad him, had him holding back for the present.

Passing from the poorer areas of the Market City of Ivory Flails into the wealthier region the carriage eventually rolled to a full stop in front of the large doors of the Inn they would be staying at. The Song & Dream was a large, upscale establishment and boasted many amenities few others could. Every mile of wood was polished to a high shine as they were escorted in and the Keeper looked more like a noble then any Cieara had ever seen. Tall and very correct in his manner while he spoke with her father and made arrangements. She watched quietly as her father was passed over a handful of keys and just hoped her room had a view, having not been able to see near as much as she would like with Danny being all tight and growly. She really didn't want to get into a fight with him, but felt he was pushing for it.

She almost voiced a protest when Luc passed over one key to Daniel and spoke to him quietly, and then found herself being guided up the stairs to a room. While their father stepped out to dole out the rest for his men and property she just looked up at her brother, waiting for some comment. "Dad wants us to share a room. Safer that way, because he won't put one of his men inside a room with you."

"What? He afraid I might eat him or something?" Eyes widening with a touch of hurt at the thought her father might think such a thing.

"No silly. Wouldn't be proper. Brothers often protect sisters this way. Common so he said." Curiously he was suddenly lighter somehow and his puzzled sister was just gazing at him.

"Ah, I get it. Family isn't frowned on, but a man not my husband, mate, master or whatever else one can be, is. This is a very strange place." Living where they did, such things hadn't ever much mattered. Who slept where hadn't ever been of much importance, but this nobility business, was proving to have a great many rules.

Entering the elegant chamber, they found two large feather down beds along with a bathroom with running hot and cold water. A large hearth dominated the room along with a large paneled window. She had hoped for one with a balcony, but suspected her father hadn't but at least she had a lovely view of the pale buildings of the place.

"Oh look Danny!" Pointing to the colorful peaks of tents off in the distance. "Do you think that's the Marketplace?" Smoke was rising from the place as the sun started to set, even in the gloom it looked bright and mysterious to her.

"Aye. Likely is." Was his short answer from where he had sprawled in a large chair in front of the crackling fire.

"Why are you in such a foul mood anyway Big Brother?" Wandering back over to perch on the arm of his seat and looked down at him.

"I don't think Dad should have brought you. It's to dangerous." His instant response and it set her bristling.

"Well, your price is even higher then mine. Seems to me plenty will be looking for you over me."

"That's different." Blue-green eyes lifting to gaze at his little sister. "Ever wonder why they want you alive Cie?"

"Not really. Figured to hold me for ransom until Daddy gave into their demands." A glove encased hand moving to give his shoulder a squeeze.

"There is that, but also, you would bring a better price in a slave market then I would."
That made her laugh. "I would be a lousy slave Danny. You know that. I don't kneel or scrape well at all."

"If you had no other choice Cie, you would learn, same as any other does." Was his glum response before his hand caught hers and gave it a warm pressing. "Go get cleaned up. I'm starving and want to get some dinner."

"Oh, oh I get it. Okay. Don't want your stomach to start growling like the rest of you has all day." It didn't take her long. Her trunk had not yet been brought up so she just splashed some water on her face, smoothed down her auburn curls and quickly rejoined her brother with gloves once more drawn back on her chilled fingers.

In a short time they were joining their father and Myrialla at a small quiet table and looking at the menu.

Cieara settled on roasted beef and vegetables and then stared askance at her brother who sounded like he was ordering everything. "Not to hungry eh Danny?" Which of course earned her a sharp look.

"Ye let him be Cieara. He still be a growing lad." Myri admonished with a glance at Luc with eyes twinkling for he had done much the same before the siblings had even arrived.

Over the meal, they learned that the city was a hub for nearly every sort of goods one might want, but was known first and foremost for the Slave Markets. Myrialla was already planning her own shopping, wanting some exotic silks and unique herbs she couldn't find at home. Luc had already arranged an escort for her as well, as four of his men would be along for her excursion. He was taking no chances with any of his loved ones and that was apparent.

Even as her bother and father continued through the mountain of food they had ordered, she was done and her pale green eyes was moving towards the side board where all the sweets were laid out. Debating if she wanted something from there and soon enough she rose, wandering over to have a look.

At the table Daniel had turned to watch and then growled again as her movement had caught a few eyes but his attention was caught by the low laughter of his father. "It's unlikely any would dare touch her here Daniel."

With a rolling of her own vividly bright eyes, Myri also stood with the soft ringing of her bells and glided off after Cieara and again drawing attention as well.

Luc being the one to growl and it made Daniel laugh. "Dad, it's unlikely any would dare touch her here." Which earned him a sharp glittering look from his father and just made him laugh more.

Both ladies returning with a plate each and small cups of rich Alarish Coffee just as Daniel and Luc both seemed to finish up their plates at nearly the same time.

"You are sure you wish to go to the Auctions tomorrow Little Sweet? You can always go along with Myrialla if you would rather." Luc suggested quietly with a glance towards his daughter.

Those words earned him a hard gleaming look from eyes like her mothers. "Mum said I could go Daddy, so you can't change your mind now."

"I'm not. Just want to be sure, as it will be an early start come sunrise." His daughter was comfortable with how he maintained his chain, but he wasn't so sure she would like the way many others were and being a father, did want to protect her from such darker things.

"I want to go with you Daddy." A smile sent to Myri, so she was aware it was nothing against her.

Myrialla had never seen such a thing her self, but was certain she didn't wish to, but was realizing she should and gave a nod. "I shall join ye once I am done picking up the few things I be wanting." She felt the chill without even having to look over, as it was quickly noticeable that Lucius didn't care for that suggestion either.

"I don't think. . ." But his words were stalled as the diminutive woman held up a staying hand.

"Tis high time I have a look at this Market Lucius. I be aware that some things will be shocking to be sure, but nae knowing does little good either." Her soft fingers moved to rest lightly on his arm with a serene curling of coral lips. "I am sure we can handle it M'Sweet. Tis best we have that knowledge and be aware of both the good and bad of it."

Her words made it hard to fight. He could just say "No" and be done with it, but was aware that the resulting battle would be lost in the end. Knowing both as well as he did, he knew neither would play fair.

"Alright. Just do not claim that I didn't warn you before hand." Grumbling more then he wanted, but couldn't contain it.

"I won't Daddy." A smile was back on his daughter face and he watched her for a moment as she gobbled up the slice of Raspberry cake she had selected.

Myrialla sat back satisfied and then with amusement as she watched as both Luc and Daniel went to get just coffee, both shunning the sweets. They were much alike in a number of ways and it was that which brought a touch of humor to her gamin features.

"Alright Cieara. Tis time for us to retire." Rising with that graceful sweep of skirts she held out a hand to the younger girl with a warm smile on her lips.

Startled eyes turning to look at Myri then but found herself drawn to her feet and tugged along so quick and quietly she didn't even get a chance to protest. On the steps she finally found her voice.

"What was that?"

"Tis a common practice Sweetness. Ladies nae linger with the men after a meal. We leave them to smoke and drink as they wish." Myri's calm and soft the words falling but holding some laughter, which was threaded in the tone.

"That's silly Myri. We don't do that at home." A sulky turn to full lips as she was pulled up the stairs towards their rooms. "I often go drinking with Danny too."

"That be at home and in that strange Realm ye both like, but nae here Sweetness. Sounds more and more like ye be needing lessons in proper etiquette." Was the response that followed.
"That's not funny."

"Nae, but tis truth. Here, ye need to start to learn to behave a certain way to nae embarrass ye family. What ye do at home and even on Tignus nae has the same impact. It is nae always about what ye want, but what the family needs. Do ye kin?"

Putting it that way did make her pause from another outburst and she started to nod. "Aye. I get it Myri. The appearance matters and considering Daddy's new status, we have to behave so as not to make more problems or conflicts."

"Aye, tis something like that. In such places as this that ye nae know, tis best to be prudent until ye learn otherwise. That way, ye nae have any missteps. Besides Sweetness, drunken men and ladies nae ever mix well. Tis pleasure slaves and trollops that roam taverns after a certain hour in such townships."

That brought another widening of pale green eyes and then laughter. "Ahh, so that is really why."

"Tis only a part of ye little Scamp. Now off to a bath and rest." The small woman sent a hand swatting towards Cie's backside as she had done when the girl was much younger and brought even more laughter but no arguments.

Lucius arrived less then an hour later. Stepping quietly into the room to find Myri sitting in bed with various papers scattered about her. Upon seeing him however she smiled warmly. "Ah, there ye are Love. I was just finishing up the lists of things I be needing for tomorrow."

Boots thudding as he kicked them off and nodded over towards her, then followed with the shucking of leathers, having removed the armor earlier. "Is it a long list?"

"Oh nae. Will nae take me long at all to get most of these." Head tipping as she watched him move off towards the bathroom and laughed softly at the sight.

He wasn't gone to long of course, returning with hair damp and just a towel about his lean waist. Taking the two pages from her as he sank down on the side of the bed she hadn't staked a claim of and glanced over them. "You need two house servants, one stableman and two more footmen?"

"Aye, that's right Love. Carlin will be free soon, so would like to get another trained before he leaves to join ye forces. What with all the recent activity, and ye have had more guest of late, there be a need for them." Her autumn curls rippled with the light cant of her head at the way he said that.

"Then why not get three more house servants, two stablemen and four footman instead?" His brow arched with a lifting of his to peer over the edge of the paper at her quietly.

"Well, that would work as well Love." Soft melodic laughter falling from her lips now as she leaned to make tug the paper from his hand and make the adjustments.

"You don't have to worry about the cost Love. We can afford it easily."

"I wasn't. I had thought to perhaps take some from those ye already have." She had been thinking about that after all.

"It's best to get some already trained for now. You can still train some for those positions, but I don't want you having to work so hard." Strong Arms pulled her, covers and all into his lap.

"I nae mind hard work Sweet." Fingers lifted to stroke against his cheek with another soft warm smile.

"I know that, but we will soon be wed and you will not have as much time to handle all of this. You will soon need to train another to take over some of these duties." Luc replied with lips brushing her delicately pointed ear with a washing of hot breath.

Drawing in some suddenly needed air, she gave a whispered laugh. "Aye, and I think I know who I shall start training then."

Teeth nibbled along the slope of her neck with a tightening of arms around her warm nude form. "Who?"

Caught for a moment with a shiver of sensations and she let the papers fall so hands could lift to entangle in his silken auburn hair. "Allannah, of course."

"Fine. Sounds good to me." His response to that was distracted for he was already sliding down into the bed and drawing her closer still.

Yanked rudely out a deep sleep, Cieara slowly lifted her head to look over at whatever it was that had made a crashing sound and found her brother bent over picking up the table he had managed to knock over. Brow arching over sleepy pale green eyes at the sight he made. "Someone is going to be hung over tomorrow."

He jumped as if scalded then glowered at her for surprising him like that and just stumbled closer towards her bed. "I just had a few is all." Daniel's speech was slurred from a few to many she suspected and it made her snicker.

"Daddy won't be happy you know." Reminding him, as she sat up, pushing the heavy fall of ginger curls from her brow. "Did you at least have fun?"

"I don't care what Dad says and yes. I played cards and I won to." Dropping down heavily on the foot of her bed and tossed her a heavy bag of gold.

Testing the weight and was impressed before a giggle spilled from her lips. "Well, you can now buy your own slave outright with this I would say."

He sank back where his head landed on her feet under the plush down quilt and looked over at her with glazed blue-green eyes. "Maybe I will."

Wiggling her toes as she watched him, and earned a swat of his hand towards her and sent her laughing again. "What were you drinking?" She had never seen him like this and found it vastly amusing.

"Dwarven ale I think. Might have been grog or a wine. Don't remember." He was pressing a hand to his head and starting to mutter now.

"Was more then a few if you don't remember." Betting someone had thought to fleece him also but found out such things were not easily done to a DeAuster.

"Was only two, maybe three." Not bothering to say they came in huge tankards of course and just groaned as the tap dancing started inside his skull already.

Ever a resourceful girl, she pulled her feet out from under him and chuckled at the groan made. His head dropping to the bed with a bounce and just padded over to her trunk to dig out one of her pouches. "This will help." Said moments later as she poked him in the side and held out a mug. "I have more for the morning, because Danny, I bet you are going to need it." Her tone was more then a little amused even as she helped him sit up and drink the brew.

Normally it would have tasted all right if in tea, but she didn't have that so hot water was used. Lucky for him he managed to get it down but as she went back to rinse out the cup, her drunken sibling passed out on the foot of her bed.

A grumble, as she didn't want to have to wiggle around to make another nest in the other bed, because it had taken her an hour to get one in her own feathered down just right, so instead she turned down the lamp and crawled right back into the warmth that was still held. If she kicked him in the head as she slept, he deserved it. He had it much easier being male anyway.

Waking up as the first rays of the sun cut through the window she snuggled deeper into the covers, then sleepy eyes blinked, feeling a heavy weight resting on her knees. Unearthing herself from the mounds of quilts, she peeked over the edge, finding her brother had moved in the night. Likely he had done it out of self-preservation of her kicking, pinning her legs to prevent her from continuing it but now she couldn’t move. Squirming under the dead weight, one hand traveled far enough to offer a hard poke to his arm. “Move Danny!”

He didn’t respond except with a faint snore and she frowned with another wiggling that got her nowhere. “Danny! Get off me! I can’t even feel my toes!”

Unaware that her father had been approaching the door and heard that. Of course the moment the door exploded open she let out a squeak with a hand fumbling to find Vestia on the side table, but then blinked owlishly at the thunderous looking Luc, filling the door and radiating. It was apparent he had expected the worst, but the sight that met his eyes, caused him to blink, and then gruff laughter rang in the room.

Finding his son passed out fully clothed on the foot of Cieara’s bed was amusing to start with, for he looked rather like a large hunting dog draped over his little sister’s legs. Add in his daughter, light green eyes wide as saucers, with her head protruding from fluffy covers like a gopher and he was caught at the humorous sight of it all.

“Daddy, I’m stuck!” Cieara said mournfully, once she could breath normally again. It was a shock and the look on her father’s face had been a little unsettling.

“I see that Little Sweet.” One hand reaching down to haul Daniel up and then dragged him off towards the shower. Some moments later there was a groan, followed by a snarl and then began the cussing. Exiting once the first of the yelling had dropped to muffled mutterings, Lucius dried his hands with a towel and smiled over at his daughter. “We will be leaving in an hour. I had the innkeeper make you both a tray for breakfast and should be here soon.”

“I’ll be ready Daddy!” The young woman stated as she sprang from the bed with a grin to her father and then darted about to ready her things.

“I will meet you in the courtyard. Less then an hour remember. You will hear the call.” With that, he walked out, chuckling wickedly under his breath as the sight from before was lingering.

Pulling out what she had dubbed the “nun” dress, as if one wore it, she was sure she would get none. It was a plain looking garment. Russet colored and simple but elegant enough and covered her from neck to ankle, which she knew her father expected. Unaware that the color actually suited her, or how the top faithfully followed every curve, she donned it quickly. Following with a brush dragged through the sleep tousled mess of auburn curls. Catching it all into a snug twist she glanced into the dresser mirror and sighed. She never could do anything with her hair, for even if she restrained it. Her stubborn curls always broke free, as was the case now.

Head turning as the door opened and her soggy brother emerged clad only in a towel and looking miserable. “Oh poor Danny.” Wincing she moved to pull out another packet of Myri’s hang over mystery herbs and put on the table.

Hand to his head, he just shot her baleful look before walking carefully over to yank dry clean clothing from his own duffle. Muffling the groan at the sharp knock on the door before he walked back into the bathroom to change, looking even more disgusted.

She was too excited to eat but did have some coffee, and fixed the herbal blend for her brother. It wouldn’t take long for it to kick in she knew and just waited for the sound her father had mentioned.

Soon, Daniel was ready, finally coming back out to take up the mug of tea without a word and just drained it down. Cieara suspected his head hurt worse then the hot brew he was guzzling and just watched him quietly, while sipping her own coffee.

His hair was still wet of course, but already she could see some color coming back into his near deathly complexion. Served him right for drinking something he didn’t know.

“Not one word Cie.” He was picking up his gloves and cloak with a glance over at her, his eyes dark and narrowed against the pain light was causing.

Giggling instead, she just shrugged and finished her morning brew before collecting her own warm things. Pulling up the hem of her dress, she tucked Vestia into the garter sheath she had for her dagger and then was turning to regard her brother. Still having not said a thing.

He just opened the door with a speaking look and she took the hint and stepped out ahead of him, even before ever hearing the call, but was betting her father was already ready.

Down in the courtyard, Luc was indeed waiting. Holding a quiet conversation with one of his men while the others loaded up the carts with the few girls he was going to be selling. He wasn't worried, knowing well that his slaves skills were well known and often the dancing taught to them made them coveted and usually coddled once acquired.

Exiting the inn she darted over to her father with another bright smile and caught his arm. "We are ready Daddy." Her pale green eyes twinkling up at her father with color bright in her cheeks.

Smiling down at his daughter and secretly pleased at the manner of dress, but being her father would have rather it not quite so snug, considering where they were going. "I see that Little Sweet. We shall be ready to head out soon, so go wait with your brother."

A quick nod and she strolled back towards her brother, where he had taken up a lean just outside the Inn and waited. "You could look a little more chipper Danny."

"Give me time. Once my head stops hurting I will try." Another one of his latest sour glances and she gave a mental sigh.

The sound of the cart doors shutting and then men were mounting up. Just a few more minutes and Cieara found herself lifted into the carriage where she was stuck on her own. Daniel having opted to ride astride with his father, the lucky grump. Aware of the warnings of the prior day, she didn't stick her head out, but she did peer out the window as the buildings started to thin, opening up into a large field in the very center of the city where the colorful array of tents was situated. The sounds of voices and calls rang freely into the air but the carriage never paused, continuing deeper into the market.

Leaning down Luc spoke quietly to his daughter though the window. "Stay in the carriage for now Cieara. I will come to collect you once the stock is secured."

Oh she hated that, but dared not argue now, for she knew she could easily be sent right back to the inn, which made her nod to her father. "Okay Daddy. I can wait." Glad the words didn't get lodged in her throat. Sitting there all she could see was the silk black and gold tent the carriage had stopped beside and across a green one.

Plucking at a stray thread of her cloak, she fiddled and waited, trying to look out to see if they were done yet, the minutes stretching to the feel of hours. So busy was she fretting she was startled when the door was pulled open and her father was holding a hand out to her. Gloved fingers wrapping about and she was climbing out, only to end up caught and swung past a muddy puddle. That made her laugh and she looked up her father. "So, this is it?"

"Not yet. Remember to stay close to your brother or myself. Guards will also be near you and for sanity sake, do not wander off alone Cieara." Her father stated in a tone that was more then serious. It told her she would be in some trouble if she failed to follow that simple request.

"I already said I wouldn't wander Daddy. So I won't." She gave him a solemn look with sincerity obvious in the pale green eyes that lifted to meet his.

"Good. Now, come along then." Tucking her hand into the crook of his arm he started for the arch of the black and gold tent. It was a massive place with a large circular stage in the center of it. A place she suspected they used for the auctions. Her easily read expression was one of curiosity and attention as she looked around avidly, totally unaware of the numerous eyes she was drawing. Her vivid coloring and lovely smile was like a magnet to even the most jaded. Daniel was also drawing gazes for some of the same reasons. His build and the ink black hair, pale skin and sharp blue-green eyes brought speculative looks from plenty. Luc however was known and none would dare gaze upon him with any thoughts other then his station.

"Are your girls here Daddy?" Dragging her eyes away from the unique and interesting sights to look up at her father.

"No Cieara. Mine are next door." His own slaves would be in the more selective sellers area. "Those here are mostly house servants, but as Myrialla needs a few I thought I would have a look." He had noticed a few that might be suitable, but would leave the final choice to the lady once she arrived.

"Oh, should I be looking for a Hand Maiden here then?" Surprise, as she had been to busy taking it all in and had totally forgot she was supposed to be paying attention to the actual slaves.

"You can, but there are other places to also look." He was sure a far more superior selection might be better suited for Cieara. Not a mere house servant, but one happy in the life.

Daniel looked bored, for none he had seen yet even appealed so just sauntered after his father and sister along the rows until they eventually moved towards the arch.

Stepping out into the bright morning sun, Cieara's gloved hand rose to shield her eyes and she grinned. This was all very unusual to her and she found she did enjoy the adventure, but was glad she wasn't one caged up. "Where now Daddy?"

"This way Little Sweet." He was leading her now towards yet another opulent looking tent, the rich purple color shimmering in the early light and the rich scent of coffee and cinnamon wafted from the folded flaps.

Pale green eyes danced at the sight once they entered. The warmth moving over her cold cheeks and she chuckled softly. This place housed a sea of low fat legged tables, surrounded by huge silken pillows and well-dressed individuals spread about in small clusters and groups.

A tug of her arm and Lucius lead them towards one of those very tables with an amused smile at the look on Cieara's delicate features. Even before she had settled a house servant was placing a large platter down, laden with sticky buns and cups of the rich heady brew so favored by the local vendors. Her brother then dropped down beside her, stretching out lazily in a manner of one that had done this before which of course had a russet brow arching. The glance made him grin but he didn't seem to be in the mood to share, instead he took up one of he cups of the hot warming coffee and sipped.

"DeAuster! Just the man I wanted to see!" Turning, as he hadn't yet sat and he looked at the one now approaching with a short nod and stepped away. After a shake of hands, both moved even further off to another table and settled in.

"What was that? Daddy didn't even introduce us or anything." Cie was shocked; as that wasn't the sort of manners they had been raised with.

A chuckle rumbled from her brother then and he lazily crossed his ankles, which rested near one of her bent knees. "He wouldn't. Dad isn't about to actually tell them our names. To most, we will end up called "DeAuster's Children"."

"Why?" Still surprised, for the man with her father seemed decent enough. Well dressed and good looking in that sort of over indulged noble way she found a little dull.

"Because it's safer that way. Already plenty have been watching us both and tallying up potential sales and or purchase prices on our heads." That droll but amused tone of voice had her shooting him a hard look.

"Don't act all superior Danny. You haven't been here before either." Wrapping her gloved fingers around the warm mug, feeling the heat seep into her still chilled fingers with some relief.

Now made aware, she started to notice the looks both of them were getting and it made her skin itch a bit. Rather like a cow at a farmers market she suspected and her nose just wrinkled up with another glance at her brother. Realizing he didn't seem at all bothered by the interest, and that irked her a little. "You don't mind being looked at with dollar signs?"

Shrugging his shoulders with a hand pushing back a fall of black hair. "No, why should I? It's not like any would ever get the chance Cie, and I tend to think most wouldn't dare cross our Father. He does have a reputation that many wouldn't want to deal with in their face either."

"If that is true, then why all the worry about me coming along?" There was a challenge in Cieara's tone.

"As long as Dad or his men are near, none would chance snatching either of us. The risk of that is greater if alone and unguarded, and they would attempt to hustle us out of sight before Dad had a chance to prevent it." Hand lifting to get another cup with just a sharp point to the empty cup he had placed on the table. "You do have a habit of getting distracted and wandering off also."

"None of them know that such an attack wouldn't work Danny. So it's hardly a great risk." She replied, watching as the one man rose and headed off only to see another take his place across from their father. "What is he doing now Danny?"

"Selling."

"Just like that?" A quick turn of her head and she regarded her brother with surprise. "I thought they would be auctioned."

"They are, even as we speak. Dad's girls are what some might call a hot commodity. Their dancing skills alone make them valuable and the better slaves tend to sell long before the public auction takes place." Smiling with a smug edge and glanced over at his little sister.

"Oh. I didn't know that, so you don't have be all superior about it." Another sniff and her back straightened even more. Her stiff posture showing more to her inner annoyance which was born from his know it all tone.

"Dad usually gets his asking price also, with few even attempting to barter. All of which are priced higher then your casual house slave. Well trained red silks are special."

"That I did know about the Silks I mean, but Myri says that white silks are just as prized."

"True. One like Allannah here would be worth a king's ransom, that's for sure. Of course I don't think Dad will sell her. " Blue-green eyes narrowing upon one swarthy looking male that wasn't even trying to be subtle about his interest in Cieara, taking on a silent clash of wills. Hard gazes locking and the distant admirer's attention suddenly shifted away, unsure why but the man suddenly felt uncomfortable.

Completely unaware of what had just happened, she just rocked back on the plush pillow and started to shift and wiggle. "Will we be here long?"

"This tent is where the big spenders and sellers transact Cie, so it's possible. Why? Bored already?" Pulling his gaze away now to peer at his sister.

"Yes. Plus I feel like a little bug under glass. If I am looking around I can ignore that feeling. You understand that don't you Danny?" Darting a look over at him with a hopeful tilt of her head.

He caught the look and chuckled quietly, before tipping back the mug of the hot brew, polishing off. "Okay, We will let Dad know we are going to walk about more." Followed by a smoothing rolling up to his feet. Bending down he offered a hand and helped her to rise, even knowing she didn't need the help, but the action made those watching know his sister was a lady and not merchandise.

Apparently Daniel had used the mind speak to tell their father they were going to sight see, for she easily heard his response. "That is fine, just be careful." Nodding to Lucius as they passed, it was her brother now that linked her arm about his and off they went.

For an hour or so they did indeed wander. Seeing many sights and curious beings both selling and being sold, some of which Cieara didn't find at all appealing. The Exotic's tent was both fascinating and unsettling as far as she was concerned, and even Daniel hadn't seen a thing he would want there.

Back in the coffee house Luc closed the last of his own deals, having ended up in a bartering war for the single blond he had decided to sell. He had ended up with nearly twice the price he had originally asked, but the one buying he knew would care well for the girl. There were times he would divert costs, but he only dealt with decent slave owners. Those with tastes towards extreme abuse didn't even try to approach him anymore.

The crowd had become thick outside the tent entrance as the day wore on, but just as he shook the last pleased hand, the mass of bodies parted and sailing through like a queen was Myrialla with her guards marching behind her.

The sight brought a lopsided smile to his lean face, for many were looking but oddly dared not even try and touch for the glint in her eye was daunting.

"Ah, there ye are Love." A warm smile lighting up her delicate features and she headed towards him, with that ever present soft melodic ring of bells and then the scent of spice and wild flowers drifted past on a random breeze.

The man he had just concluded his business with, drew in a sharp breath. "Gorgeous."

"That she is. Lord Nortran, please meet my Fiancée. Lady Myrialla of Gharnholme."

Offering a regal bow of her head before her fingers moved to take possession of Lucius's arm. "Lovely to meet ye Lord Nortran." Silken soothing tones just caused the man to stare even more.

There were some things Myrialla has learned in her time at Gharnholme, one was how to deal with the male species without bruising egos, thus a serene smile curled upon coral tinted lips before she turned brilliant eyes upwards to stare at Luc in utter adoration.

The look worked for the man snapped out of his gaping with a flush rising in his cheeks. "Nice to meet you as well Lady DeAuster." Another quick shake of Luc's hand following. "Good doing business with you DeAuster." Before he took off to collect his new property.
Low laughter rumbled from Lucius then with a light pat to her fingers where they rested on his forearm. "Well done Love."

"Of course. I nae think I have seen such a pack of hungry wolves in all my days. Tis flattering to be sure but also unsettling." More honey warm laughter drifting up from her as she looked over at the guards. "Nae ever was that bad back home, and for that I am thankful."

"Back home they all worship you Love. You are their bright angel of healing."

"Aye, and I think I like that title better. Now, did ye find any for my lists Lucius?" Humor shimmering bright in her turquoise eyes that peered up at him curiously, ever amused at the name his men had bestowed upon her.

"Indeed I have. Of course I waited to offer until you had a chance to look first Love." He was already leading her from the table towards the exit.

"Ah, well then lets go have a look shall we?" Graceful and light her pace matched his surprisingly well, even if he was walking at a slower pace to accommodate her shorter stride.

She was soon lost in the world of haggling and merchant management, picking a few out and charming the seller down to near shocking prices with her enchanting manner and ways.

Daniel and Cieara had wandered out towards the less established areas and were about to start back. The tents less gilded and the language having taken a harsher turn. "I don't think I like. . . " She blinked suddenly as a sensation of intense sorrow hit her fully and caused her to stumble with a hand moving to press against her chest. "Oh my." Breath caught and she then looked up at her brother, who was just a bit surprised at her sudden abrupt stop. "Did you. . . Feel that Danny?"

"Feel what?" A baffled look moving over his handsome face with a suddenly tense look around.

"Pain, sadness, and fear." Her own pale green eyes were darting about in agitation before she gasped again and leaned into her brother for support. She hadn't ever had that happen before and was shaken, but confused as well. A second only and she remembered, he had taken the hang over remedy of Myri's that did dampen down empathy.

Taking a few steps with her brother trying to draw her back, but she found she couldn't stop and just released him. Only to feel his hand dropping to her shoulder with hard grasp, trying to halt her. "Cieara!"

She pointed towards a dingy tent and just caught in another breath, as the fear grew stronger. "In there Danny."

A look at his sister's pale features and then at the tent and just growled, taking her hand with a nod sent to the guards and all moved towards the entrance flap. Stepping inside, the man seated at a worn scarred desk instantly stood up. "Afternoon Lad. Wha' can I do ye fer?"

Cieara's eyes were darting about then finally spotted a figure huddled in the corner of the tent, head buried in arms but the waves of emotion was rolling off of it like a storm.

"We just stepped in to see what you had Sir." Daniel was watching the course man with suspicious eyes, but the creature didn't even seem to realize it. The thick skin was covered in a raspberry rash that gave the youth cause to avoid the offer of a meaty hand.

"I only got one left. Sold the rest, but tha'one bites." A filthy crop was pointing into the
corner and exposing even more of that skin irritation on his forearm.

Tear stained, and mud coated features lifted but it was the eyes that caught her, making her breath catch again in shock and almost missing her brother's comment. "Come on Cie. That one isn't worth bothering with."

"No Danny." Whisper falling as she locked eyes for a moment and then glanced up at her brother. "I want that one."

"What?" Hissing low, so that base creature watching them from his desk couldn't hear. "Have you gone nuts? Dad's not going to want that."

Lips curling into a hard line with the sharp sending of a call and she looked at her brother with her own voice pitched just as careful and low. "Daddy said I could pick one out."

"Aye, but I don't think he expected you to find the most inappropriate slip of a creature Cieara." He was surprised. Of course when she was small, she was forever saving small animals from nature and their fate, just hadn't expected that behavior to resurface now.

"I'll sell 'er cheap, just to get 'er off me hands. I'll take 200 gold fer 'er." That bull faced merchant stated, but quickly shot to his feet when Lucius stepped inside with a frown. In one sweep the conditions of the place his children had foundwas noted, he was not at all pleased but he heard the note in that mental call. One look at the curled up form and he took a slow relieved breath. Cieara was saving kittens again.

Beside him Myri then stepped, then gave a soft gasp, fingers catching hold of Luc's side with a stunned blinking. "Well now, why don't ye have. . " Pausing to take a quick uneasy breath. "have a look Lucius." 200 gold was nothing for him, so perhaps saving another stray wasn't a bad idea, if it pleased his daughter and so he stepped over towards the bowed form.

The girl was filthy, no doubt about that, mud caked and under it all, he caught the signs of torn skin even before touching her. It took all he had once a hand did move to lift her head, to stop the sudden rising of his Beast. The emotions were powerful and unexpected, all radiating with misery and fear. Even before he saw her eyes he had already made up his mind to purchase the girl. The sight of them however brought another pause, for they were a clear crystalline blue, sad and somber and oddly wise, even if the dirty face and matted hair gave him no idea as to age.

Rising up as his children looked on, Luc turned and regarded the creature peddling flesh with no regard to maintaining quality or even simple humanity, and with great effort, restrained himself from pounding that face to a pulp. "Where was that one taken from? I've never seen one with features like that."

"Tha' one? Found in the wilds of Pyrion. Some clan war ther' with mos' either sold off this morn o' dead. Nomad sorts, nae roots and thievin' ways some be said. Ye will likely need break tha' one in, she be a biter." Something easily confirmed by Luc with a single glance towards the man's hands, covered in filth and dried blood and a very nasty looking rash.
Taking a single gold trade bar from a pouch at his hip, the value twice the asking price and watched the light of greed spring to life in the dull brown eyes of the merchant. "And what is your name? I tend to like knowing who I am doing business with."

"Tiram Bugren, M'lord." The hungry gaze fixed upon the gleam of gold with disgusting avarice.

The brick was placed down on the rickety desk with a solid thud. "I'll take the girl." He didn't wait, just turned and walked back, collecting Myrialla and his daughter and escorting them out with restrained haste and Daniel trailing behind.

Turning to Commander Farriss who was standing just outside the filthy tent. "Commander, go and collect the girl inside and put her in the covered cart please."

The large man instantly snapped to attention and then stepped off to fulfill that request. Realizing quickly the state of the thin form and was gentle when he carried her off into the tent city towards where the carts and carriage awaited. Watching the commander departing, he turned to look down at Myri and then Cieara. "Mind telling me what that was about?"

"Did you feel it Daddy?" Wide pale green eyes just peered up at her father, holding a shadow of the sadness felt.

"I did Cieara. That one be holding strong empathy." Myrialla commented, with one hand pressing to her own cool cheek.

A frown touching his lean visage and he looked over at his son. "And you Daniel? Did you also feel it?"

"No Dad. I do have another headache though. Feels like something is pounding to get inside." Looking none to pleased about that as well with fingers pressing against one temple. Myrialla nodding with another concerned look over at the youth.

"Ye took the remedy aye? That be why."

Lucius had felt the strength of emotions the moment he had touched the pathetic creature, and while he didn't have the same soft heart as his youngest child, he hadn't been able to leave her there either. If he didn't know better he would have thought he had been compelled to take her, but something like that wasn't possible, for his senses would have noticed.
Once they reached Luc's own carriage, he was helping the woman inside when Commander Farris approached. "A word Milord?"

"Of course commander. Give me a moment please. Daniel, ride back with Myrialla and your sister please."

For once Daniel didn't seem to mind and just climbed after his sister and settling back, head obviously aching if the dark shadows under his eyes was an indication. Walking to his own mount with Farris, Lucius drew the thick well-tooled riding gloves onto his hands. "Do did the girl bite you Commander?"

"Nae sir. Docile as a kitten she was." Features darkening even as he spoke. "There be laws about the state she is in Milord. Beaten that much with nae cause, is barbaric."

"Yes, which is why I want you to follow him. I am betting he will be taking off fast from here. I want you to capture him, find out where he got all the slaves he sold here this day." Capturing the reigns of his Nightmare, he stepped up and swung smoothly into the saddle then leaned down to place a heavy hand on Farris's shoulder. "Then, I want you to bring me his head, nothing else but that putrid bag of flesh's head. Do you understand Commander?"

Farris stood tall with a fist moving to rest upon his chest in a salute. "Aye Milord." The cold smile creeping on the veterans face a chilling thing, along with the satisfaction he was already looking forward to.

Returning the salute with a curt nod before kicking his horse into a rocking canter. He knew he couldn't touch the foul creature in Ivory Flails, but the moment he stepped out of the protection of the city, he was fair game. Of course he could also complain, but such things took weeks with futile investigations and was so often lost in bureaucratic idiocy, that he had decided to level justice on his own, and knew that none would even question it.

It was those like Tiram Bugren that gave the practice a truly bad name and most he knew within the trade, would take the very same steps. If he were in his own lands, he would not have given such a duty to a commander, but would do it himself, but appearances, as both Fiona and Myrialla was trying to instill, had to be maintained.

Later, after the return to the Inn, Myrialla slipped into the chamber where she was staying with Luc, her head shaking and a dark frown on her usually sunny smiling face. A quiet anger rolled from her as she collected a few things then glanced over at Luc, where he was finishing up the last of the papers for the following morning. Everything would need to be in order for him to take any commodity from the city. Steel-gray eyes lifted, finding hers resting upon him and he gave a smile. "Is everything alright Sweet?"

"Nae. That girl, that last one. She is nae in good shape Love. Some of those wounds be infected and I suspect she has nae had any food in many a day." Myrialla was also thanking every God and Goddess she knew for her luck had been so much better then the poor creature housed below. "I wish to bring her up here. The baths below for the servants and slaves nae have hot water and that be what I think I will be needing. Some of the gashes be ground in with filth."

"Then do so Love. " He was aware only to well of her thoughts at present. Having done the same thing on many of occasions him self, and could even sense her anger over the treatment one sick girl had suffered.

Leaning she brushed a tender kiss to his cheek and smiled warmly. "Thank ye Love. I shall be back shortly." Scooping up some simple cotton material from the chair and moments later the door closed quietly behind her.

He was still awaiting word from his commander. The man wouldn't be bringing a head back with him, this Lucius knew, but would wait a safe distance from the city to meet them in the morning. Even before he could finish the thought there was another knock upon the door and he smiled coldly. "Come."

Stepping inside was one of the young men of Farriss's troop with a wax sealed missive in one hand. "Eve Milord. Commander Farriss sends the for ye."

Taking the note with a nod. "Thank ye Revic." Cracking the seal and his eyes moved over the words found there.

Milord DeAuster,
The job is done. We will await ye 20 clicks from the city near the Krashmil Cross.
I have curious news in which to depart to ye and will meet ye come morning tide.
Respectfully
Your loyal Servant,
Farriss.

Another dark curling of lips and he gave the young soldier a short brief nod. "We leave at Dawn. Please inform the men Revic."

"Aye Milord." The youth brought a fist up to his breastplate in the standard salute then spun and marched out with military precision.

Curious to many, but the reason Luc had selected Farriss and his men were the fact they did carry themselves in a manner many would find daunting. The stiff form and hard eyes did make many take a step back more often then not. Even how he had acquired them might be questionable he couldn't ignore their valor in the recent battles. They had fought viciously and with unquestionable loyalty and all had been rewarded for it. Even the barbarians that made up most of Luc's force had accepted them, no easy feat for most not of their kin. Adding to that the Blood oath volunteered to him by the commander personally, thus he knew he could trust Farriss and did with the lives of his own family. Few would cross the one that now held their soul.

Tossing the missive into the dancing flames of the hearth, he was soon pulled from his thoughts at the sound of Myrialla's soft mellow voice only a few moments before she opened the door and stepped inside with the new slave girl being carried in by another new slave, purchased to replace Carlin. "Tam, please take her into the bathroom." Myrialla requested and then flashed another quiet smile to Luc.

Watching as the large man that looked more like a smithy then a Horse Keeper did as he was asked with a smile and a nod. Bald and burly but Myri had claimed he had kind eyes and learning he had a way with horses made him perfect for the duty he was to assume.

Once home, Luc would be interviewing all the new acquisitions. Many would be offered the chance to work off the price of their purchase, something so few even were aware he did. He was known to be a decent Master so often many even if released stayed. Some even kept the collar by choice, but again that was something few outside the keep actually were aware of.

Even in that short view, he still couldn't even tell what the girl even looked like. The simple cotton wrap Myri had swaddled her in hid much from view but he did get a glimpse of those clear blue eyes and felt the pain the creature was in.

Myri vanished after the slaves into the bathroom, he could hear the dull murmer of voices and then watched once more as the large hulking form appeared, pulling the door closed behind him. Then stood looking uncertain. "What are you waiting for Tam?" Lucius asked, looking up from his chair by the hearth with an arching brow.

"Mistress Myri told me to wait Milord. I beg ye pardon, Master Lucius." That last part coming in a rush of a low bass rumble and a suddenly worried look in the large brown eyes.

"You may go. If Mistress Myri needs assistance, I will help her."

"As ye wish Mi, Master Lucius." The man bowed and started to back up towards the chamber exit and in a moment was out. Lucius's lips twitched, for it was obvious that one hadn't been a slave long, but he would know more when interviews were taken.

Listening to the soft voice behind the door of the bathroom, he reached for the cup of that rich coffee served everywhere in this realm and waited. Eventually Myri did step out, looking about for Tam. "I know I told him to wait."

"I sent him off Love. What do you need?" Coffee placed down on the saucer and he rose with a lazy stretch.

"Well, I can nae lift her from the bath. She be thin but still heavy for me. Then I be needing her brought out here after she be dry so I can smooth some balm on her cuts."

"I can do that Sweet." Motioning her to proceed, he followed her into the humid room. Nothing showed on his face at the sight of the girl hugging her knees in the hot water. However it was apparent the mud had hid far more then it had showed, for she was covered with several injuries, from deep bruises to whip and crop marks that now mottled unnaturally pale skin.

"Just scoop her up Lucius." Myri requested having already found a large thick towel and had shaken it open in preparation. Bending down he scooped her up gently, feeling the thin body tense for a moment and then swung her around and let her feet touch the floor so Myri could enfold her in the warm waiting terry cloth.

Again he was sweeping the woman up into his arms, finding she weighed next to nothing and just carried her back into the bedchamber with Myrialla at his heels. Once there she was placed down gentle on the edge of the bed and he just stepped back, letting the healer have her way.

"I will need to have the Inn Keeper either get us another room for her or have a bed taken into the one where ye slaves are staying Lucius." Soft words coming as she started the long process of treating every vicious gash on tender skin.

Brow arching as that wasn't a common thing at all but words never left him, for her deft fingers had tugged the towel away and started on the young woman's stomach. It was crisscrossed with whip marks and harsh bruises that even a grown man may not have endured. "Aye, I know it is not common, but she can nae rest upon a pallet like this. She be needing the cushion." She was pressing one of the vials into the girl's hand now. "Drink this Sweet."

"Is she mute Myri?" He had noticed that girl hadn't spoke or even cried out and was frowning a bit.

"Nae Love." Fingers moving the heavy fall of surprisingly silky looking black hair and exposed the woman's neck and brought a low growl from Luc and had him walking over to take a look. "I suspect she may have been dragged by her neck at some point. For now her voice be lost, but will return quite soon, once the healing waters start to do as it should."

Lifting the girl's chin then, he looked at her face. The features were swollen but likely pretty once the damage was gone. The eyes were still startling. He had never seen one with such crystalline eyes but Elves and even theirs was of a certain silver color, not this pale glistening sheen of blue. She stared back at him with that somber cast and shadow of sorrow mingling in the depths of those eyes but did at least attempt to offer a weak smile.

"Ah, and what shall we call this one Myri?"

Looking up from her bag of herbs and remedies, the small woman chuckled quietly. "I nae know Love. Perhaps learning her real name might be a start."

"What is your name girl?" A quiet smile, not expecting and answer yet but was making her aware they would wait.

"Rhian." It was an almost missed whisper, but her lips did move and he looked back towards the girl.

"Rhian?" Surprised, for it wasn't a name he had ever heard before and another glance to Myri as she bustled over.

"Tis a lovely name Sweet. Be that your birth name then?" This time she was pressing a mug of tea into the girl's shaking hands. "Ye drink this slowly now." The dark head nodded, and then did as she was told, sipping the hot brew gingerly, so carefully to not spill a drop.

Now even more curious, for the girl didn't seem to even care she was sitting nude upon the bed and drinking tea, Luc just watched her with a hand moving to stroke the line of his goatee. Damaged as she was, she was well made, having high, unadorned breasts and a tiny waist, and once healthy would likely attract eyes, but he was weighing the abuse and just like that decided to let her work off her price. It wouldn't take long either, for she had cost a pittance compared to even the house slaves he had just acquired.

"I shall see about a room for her Myri. Something near so you can keep and eye on her." Thoughts still moving in his head and he headed out, and in a very short time was back with the key to the room next to their own and had ordered a tray to be brought up quickly. The fare would be simple for it was not yet dinner but would work for now. That single touch and he had been instantly aware of her exhaustion. She no longer felt in danger and now everything she had endured was likely catching up.

Myrialla was just finishing up and gently draping some white cotton around her like a sarong when her fiancée returned and she looked up with another warm smile. "Did ye find a room or a bed Love?"

"The room next to this one was available. They will also be bringing up some food." He was seeing that his instincts were correct for Rhian was struggling to keep her eyes open. "Try and get her to eat some before she does sleep."

"Aye, I shall certain try. Do ye mind carrying her Love?"

"Of course not." Stepping over and for the third time in under an hour he was carrying the girl to the next room and then placed her gently down after Myri had drawn back the blankets.

"Thank ye." Words still raw and raspy moved from cracked lips as he stepped back, again frowning and large hands curling up tight. No doubting the gratitude there and for such a simple thing. Truth of it was if he would see one beating a dog in the manner this woman had been, the one doing it would be dead by his hand. Such cruelty was unacceptable and this from one that was known to be ruthless and unyielding in battle.

However the mistreatment of one weaker, smaller would always ignite his ire. Even when he took some as the spoils of war, they would always be treated humanely unless too violent to handle and then they died with a purpose on the Bone Altar. He never did have a taste for torture of one weaker, preferring the more effective means to a swift, painful death for those that had earned it. Like Torvien and his ilk would soon learn.

Later that evening, as they were settling down into the bed, he drew Myri close, thankful again that she had never suffered such things. "She will heal rapidly you think Love?"

"Aye, I think she will, but Luc love, that one has secrets." Head turning she peered over at him. "I let her keep it, but there be a ring she had. She nae fought me taking it at first but started to weep. I nae had the heart to not return it."

"A ring? What sort of ring?" A frown touching his brow as slaves should only have such things from their Master.

"T'was a man's ring. Large and heavy with a glowing stone rather like her eyes. Nae even sure how she managed to keep it with everything else she suffered."

"Kept in her mouth I would think." Would certainly be getting a look at the ring once they were home. "Let her keep it for now. As for the secrets, those will also be uncovered." He was one that didn't like secrets in his home, unless they were his own. Such things had ways of sneaking up and making trouble later on and so he allowed few that luxury.

Twisting slowly around, velvet soft lips floated against his cheek with a whispered chuckle. "Few be nae aware that ye are a good man Lucius."

"Don't tell anyone about that. I have an image to maintain Love." His own laughter falling to mingle with her soft tone, before rolling with a soft growl then subsequent sighs of pleasure following.

The following morning with the sun having not even yet risen, Lucius was carrying Rhian down the stairs and out to the covered cart. The girl was still sleeping, having been dosed up with one of Myrialla's potent painkillers to deal with the long travel soon to come. Both of his children were already below, having heard the knock on the door earlier and that only left Myri to show. Luc knew she was inside arranging for more items to put in her basket for their trip back home.

Once he had the girl secured, with one of the older House slaves, taking over watching of her he was striding over to speak with one of his men. He wasn't happy to hear one had been spotted watching, but suspected trouble not to long down the road, but as he wasn't to concerned yet, he vaulted up onto his mount and just settled in, with a glance over to his son. The youth's features now bearing the same frown as his own, having heard the same thing as Luc and just as tense he was also. "No matter what Daniel, you stay near your sister and Myrialla."

"Not a problem Dad." Still thinking it would have been best to have left his sister at home. His glove encased hand resting on the dagger he carried, almost hoping he would get a chance to use it.

"Lets go." Hand lifting and the procession started out, moving slowly through the white city towards the gates. It was there that took most of the time, for the wait was nearly and hour and by the time it was finished, Luc's mood was disintegrating.

Steel-gray eyes taking on a hard glint, scanned the distance, finding to many places for some to hide for his comfort and the ax at his back started to hiss and gurgle, picking up on his steadily rising temper.

Beside him his son was also just as tense. Blue-green eyes also gazing into the distance, narrowed against the rising light of the sun and his handsome features drawn into a stern expression.

By the time they reached Krashmil Cross, having seen none, Luc was still not relaxing. The sight of Farriss and three other men was met with a short nod. "Report Commander."

Behind them the carriage rolled to a slow stop, but unlike normally the troops didn't pause, just moved up to surround the elegant cab, all eyes on alert and watching and hands resting on sword hilts and crossbows.
Catching the sack tossed, Luc looked down and a cold smile moved over his face with a nod, before attaching the gruesome prize to the back of his saddle to hang over the mount's haunches.

"Did you learn anything else about Pyrion?"

"Aye Milord. There is nae any clan wars there, tis someone raiding it to steal and pilfer. He didn't know, just that most of those taken were found in the clean up. From what I can gather Milord, they try and leave no evidence of these attacks, including the burning of small villages and slaughter of survivors. That one," A sharp motion of a chin towards the bag. "Be one of those that scavenges upon what is left over."

The veteran was frowning still. "Tis a war of a different nature Milord. By the sound of it, tis a way to undermine the current noble ruling that region, with the slow stripping of the land and its inhabitant. Tis a Torvien Tactic along with some others of his ilk, for they move in usually under the cover of night like cowards, and are gone leaving nothing to track come morning light." It was obvious that Farriss was not a supporter of such behavior by the tone used.

Like static in his head the hiss was heard, for Fiona was now aware and he could feel the anger as it rolled into him even from the distance and frowned darkly. "Do you think Torvien is involved in this?"

"It is possible milord. This sort of thing might fund the mercenaries he has been reported to have hired. Ye have been whittling away at his own holdings, so would nae be uncommon for him to seek to steal from others to pay for those willing to stand against ye."

"Thank you Commander Farriss, your duty here will not go un-rewarded. It is now time to move however, we have some tracking us and I don't wish to linger long on the road."

Quickly Farriss was informed of the watcher and was soon riding Lead and back towards the main city of Ralia. This time without the hindrance of rain and mud, the trip was going much faster, even if every man sat with tense expectation.

A mere hour from their destination was when the attack came. The sound caught Luc and Farriss's attention, a fletch released and shouts rose as it slammed into the door of the carriage. In the event this had been unexpected, men might have scattered, the crew there didn't. Instead they dropped low with weapons at the ready, staying near that cab.

Inside, Cieara was twisting about, pulling off the leg tangling skirt, having her leather pants already on under it, and hissing at Myri to stay down on the floor. She wouldn't go down without a fight either.

"Ye stay right there Missy!" Myrialla snapped and just yanked her down beside her. "Ye father nae wants ye leaving this cabin and ye won't!"

"But Myri! I want to help!"

"I nae care, ye stay right here with me." The lady's face was drawn in stark lines of determination and Cieara quickly realized she would put herself at risk if she didn't do as Myri demanded.

Back with Daniel and Luc, the shadows were in use, the young man fading out even before his father could bark and order for him to join his sister and a growl rang seconds before he followed. Around then the arrows of Gharnholme's own men were flying and above, dust and rocks rolled down from the crags being used as cover for those attacking.

"I count 20 men Dad!" The mental call only making him grumble more.

"I told you to stay with your sister!"

"If she gets into trouble I can get to her!"

Lucius moved out of the weave with the ax swinging, sending one instantly to his death, and three more went spilling over the side, tumbling down into the waiting swords of his men below. "Make that 16 now."

Daniel was also sliding from the Paths of night, dagger catching one by surprise as it cut clean through one man's throat with an arterial spray alerting another but even before the companion could act, the boy faded from sight just as fast.

The man spun about, looking with eyes wide and shocked then choked, a hand materializing right in the middle of his chest and down he went, watching his own heart beating it's last before death claimed in.
"14 Dad!"

"No Daniel. 10." Having sent more flying over the side, with one sliced cleanly in two parts, Luc's rage was unleashed on these creatures seeking to steal his children.

There was a thundering sound moving closer and around the bend, men on horse back approached. Farriss shouted, having counted another twenty or more and men moved, leaving an opening of that carriage having no other choice.

Chaos exploded, the sound of swords clashing and the bellowing of war echoed inside the stuffy carriage and Cieara muttered, with the dagger clutched tight in her gloved hand hissing it's own displeasure.

Unexpectedly the door was thrown open and a hand reached inside, catching a hold of Myrialla's hair, for both were close and started to drag her out, only to end up moments later, clutching a shattered nose as Cieara had twisted around and slammed both boots into the man's face. "Son of a Bitch! You keep you hands off her!" Even before he had a chance to move back, an auburn headed dervish was upon him, slashing and hacking at him with vicious intent. He didn't live long to ponder the sight, as she nearly took his head off.

Cie of course soon found herself surrounded, but wouldn't leave Myri on her own so she stood her ground with eyes just daring one to try and touch her. She could hear the roar of sound in her ears, the taste of spent blood on her lips and just narrowed glittering eyes. "Come on!"

It was a only a second she had, seeing the dark net heading for her and she phased, fading from sight for a moment, letting it fall useless to the ground. She couldn't help it as she reformed, laughing at the attempt. "Got to do better then that!"

Behind her, the other lady emerged, her own skirts ripped to free her own legs and a small staff in her hands. "I would suggest ye back it up now." So calm the words but they only seemed to move closer. Dropping to the ground with the grace of the dancer she was, she moved up beside Cieara with that innocuous wand twirling in her fingers.

The circle around them was becoming tighter, but Cieara just braced, lashing out at any that tried to reach, taking one slow fellow's fingers and felt deep satisfaction at the sound of his screams.

Catching a glance over at Myri, she saw the fingers sliding along the smooth wood and just dropped low with a leg taking one down hard, a mere second before that staff sprang open, blades slamming into two men at the same time, then a quick retraction before she started to swing it. Men scrambled back, away from the glitter of mithril points.

They had narrowed their own number and Cie now just moved to cover Myrialla's back, even as she caught the terrified screams of the new slaves less then 10 feet away.

She then found herself flying through the air, tackled by a heavy weight of a large form and started to lash out at him, feeling the unnatural power of him with a sudden panic and a sharp enraged scream rose from her throat. Survival instincts kicking in brought a wave of energy, then the surging of red in a snap over taking the pale green eyes.

The weight above her bellowed in rage as talons raked over his face, ripping away the dark mask he wore and nearly taking both eyes in her sudden attack.

Red glazed eyes darting as she finally managed to kick the brute away, hearing the curious sound of snapping bone as he slammed back into the carriage wheel and slumped over dead. On her feet then, she was shaking with such fury then heard Myrialla's screams, which had her spinning fast. "Myri!"

Even before she could act, a large bald man was tackling the pair seeking to drag off the petite woman, sending one flying like a leaf into a jetting rock, somehow the force impaling and killing the man instantly and the other's head was spun about backwards with a very sickening crunch.

Cieara wasn't given much time as another one came diving in fast, sword swinging for her head but she moved back in time with a block of her arm, the pain not even noticed as it slammed through skin into bone and just twisted around, slashing the howling Vestia across the man's stomach, then left him falling to his knees, trying to put his own parts back inside.

She had only taken two steps when out of nowhere she felt a blade at her throat. "Move and I will cut you." The male voice hissed, having slid out of the carriage behind her and then forced her arm behind her back, blade falling to the ground. She attempted to shift into the weave then, only to feel a trickle of blood trailing down the side of her neck. "I know that trick. Now be a good girl and don't struggle." Followed with a jerk, as he started to pull her away.

She did the only thing she could think, and just went limp in his hold, forcing him to drag dead weight and sent out a very loud mental scream.

The numbers had grown considerably since the start of the attack, and Lucius was wading through them, mowing them down rapidly, until that scream exploded inside his skull, nearly sending him to his knees. He took a few hits then, before a bellowing of rage and the wild swing of that ax, sent several to their respective Gods. He didn't wait then, using the weave even knowing the dangers, but the distance wasn't far.

Arriving in a flash of a moment to see one had his daughter and had a blade pressed to her throat. Wild steel eyes took in the scene, Myri off to the side cradled in the arms of Tam and obviously unconscious, men still fighting only a few feet beyond that and several dead bodies scattered around the carriage, telling a tale on it's own.

This ambush had been carefully orchestrated. Divert and then move in for the snatch. Rage was building in him, but before he could even act, the man holding his youngest just dropped, a blade protruding from his back and from the shadows of the surrounding cliff, Daniel walked out, covered in blood and if the feeling rolling off him was any indication, near frenzy state.

Cieara just swayed where she stood, realizing her arm was burning with pain, she had a gash on her neck and the biggest shock, not being able to fade. She was reeling from that and just sank into her brother as his arms wrapped around her from behind. "I. . . Couldn't get away." Voice small and shaken now.

"Aye. It's alright Cie. Shhh.." He directed her then, taking her over towards Myri and the unknown man just huddled over her protectively then shot a look towards his father as Luc stalked towards them.

"Myri!?" Eyes taking a very deadly cast, the Daemon rising at the sight of blood matting her autumn hair.

"She be alright Mi, Master Lucius. Just hit her head." Tam replied, not looking up just keeping watch over her.

Sinking down beside the pair, Cie just rested her back against the rock, arm cradled against her body, with blood seeping into her shirt and leathers she wore. She could only watch as both her father and brother turned at the same time and headed into the lingering fray of battle.

It was curious, for it seemed to her the sight of Luc wading into the mix, rallied his own men and it felt like only minutes left when it was over, just like that. The sudden chilling silence settling over the area like a pall.

Cieara belatedly realized she needed to wrap her wound, for she was starting to feel rather light-headed and just glanced around for something use. Inside the carriage anything and everything she would need was there, but when she tried to rise, she realized her limbs felt like lead. She did manage a faint smile seeing her father and brother walking back both safe and looked unharmed, before darkness over whelmed her she quite simply fainted.

Daniel was furious. Angry at himself, at the risk taken, at the attack, everything that had recently happened and Luc was aware of it. Hence he didn't say a word about his son not following his demand. He was also incensed at his Son, but for the moment he would let it alone. The boy would beat himself up far more then Luc's could.

"Daniel, get your sister." He glanced over and then leaned down, gently taking Myrialla from the protection of Tam with a nod. "I have her Tam. You go and help them with the wounded and the bodies please." The man rose and moved off with a loping gait and joined the troops in the moving of bodies and any still alive were tossed into another pile.

Luc moved quickly, laying Myri down on the bench and checking her pulse before pulling out one of her vials and used it to clean the blood from the wound at her temple.

Behind him, Daniel was bringing in Cieara, and growing concerned as she wasn't moving, upon closer examination, he soon realized that the blood he had thought was others, was really her own and quickly found the deep cut on her forearm. "Dad, I need some help here."

Head turning and in a moment he was shifting to look at his Daughter. Soul gems drawn from a pouch and crushed, unleashing that flood of harsh, but effective energy into her body. A sharp gasp as she came too and just shivered, eyes dark and flooded with that black energy. Daniel was quickly ripping the sleeve away and cleaning and dressing the wound that would take a day or so to heal now.

Resting a hand on Cie's shoulder, he didn't say anything at all and then Luc's attention moved back towards Myri as she stirred. Once he was sure Myri had no lasting damage, he turned with eyes sharp at his son. "You will stay in the carriage with Myrialla and your sister." Not even waiting for the youth to answer or argue before sliding back at. He knew there wasn't enough room for both, as the ladies needed some space to rest.

"We lost three men, but we have six of the enemy still alive Milord." Farriss strode up. "Be the ladies alright?"

"Yes, injured and shaken but both will be fine Commander. Bring those men along. There is room for them in the open cart. Make sure they can't get away as well."

"Two are badly injured milord, but one does seem to be one of the leaders."

Handing over some of the glowing vials he had taken from Myrialla's bag with a hard glower on his blood stained features. "Give this to them Commander. I want them alive and well enough to be interrogated."

"As ye command Milord." A salute and he was off, barking orders with his voice bouncing off stonewalls. Walls Luc felt were closing in on them by the moment. Mounting up on his nightmare, he looked on, slowly his own mood shifting back into a more normal state. Truth be told, he would have been more surprised if the trip had gone without such an attempt. He had both of his children along making it a price worth paying to 60 plus men. From the look of them, they were mercenaries anyway, seeking to make a quick bundle for their own coffers.

He was listening to the quiet voice in his head, Fiona's connection soothing the rage, aware that she was also not pleased, but would be waiting at home. There it would be safe and he now wished only to be there with his family free from harm.

It was a ragtag collection that eventually rolled in to Ralia, moving slowly through the gates, the tension still ran high with several eyes just searching for more threats from building peeks and shadowy corners they passed. Lucius rode along side his commander, eyes ahead and looking grim, not even noticing the way many scattered as they neared. Blood soaked and looking as barbaric as the rumors was likely the thought, but he cared nothing for their staring eyes and shocked faces.

As the feeling of the cobbles under the wheels of the cab, Daniel looked over towards Myrialla, were she rested, having been medicated with her own herbs and just cradled his sister close. She was still weak but aware. "I'm sorry Cie. I should have listened to Dad and stayed with you. This is my fault."

"No, it's not Danny. Ye came when I called. That be all ye could do, Aye?" Arm cradled close she just gave a shake of her head, feeling very grimy and dirty from the earlier skirmish.

"Dad isn't going to see it that way." His words pitched low and glum, even as he lightly brushed some of Cieara's hair back from her brow.

"Daddy might not, but ye still did good. Don't discount one mistake as total failure. We are still safe right?"

"Once we are home, we will be safe Cie. Until then, it's still dangerous." He was frowning darkly. Daniel's handsome face dirty and streaked with blood, which actually made him resemble their father even more then usual.

"Daddy might be feeling just as bad now Danny. Maybe you should just tell him your sorry once we are home. He may yell, glare and fuss, but he respects honesty more then guilt I think."

"Yes, Your right little sister." Another finger drifting light over the healing cut marring her neck and he growled low.

"Nearly home now aye?" She was resting against her brother at the moment and really all she wanted was a nice hot bath and her own bed. Safe behind the sturdy walls of Gharnholme and the wards to keep out the dangers that lurked behind it's gate.

"Aye Cie. Very soon, now why don't you just rest Cieara. I will wake you when we arrive." He was trying to sooth her with another stroke of her cheek and she smiled, letting her eyes drift closed.

Silently Fiona stepped into the kitchen, finding a very tired looking Kaelyn making a pot of hot tea and gave her a quiet nod. "Morning Kaely. I see ye have nae sought rest this night yet."

"Nae yet Fiona. Was many to heal and now many to check once more before I seek my own bed." A harried little smile touching the girl's lovely face before she set about adding herbs to various mugs on a tray beside the large stove.

"Ye nae need worry about Lucius. His injuries are already healed." Gloved hands moving to task of making her cup of coffee, well aware it was still early enough the morning staff had not yet appeared.

Kaelyn gave a relieved sigh with the tired nodding of her sun gold head before she looked over again at Fiona. "Aye, tis the same with Daniel.

Cieara I fear will likely take a day or so more. T'was a very deep cut she sustained. Myri will be up and about by this afternoon." She still felt melancholy about being unable to save two of Lucius's men, but the injuries have been to fatal, that even her own skills couldn't save them.

"Kaely, why don't ye let Allanah take over the watch now, aye? She is schooled enough and something does come up, she can always come get ye." Ice green eyes had noted the strain upon the young woman's delicate features and suspected her son might like her company right now also.

"Perhaps ye be right Fiona." Unwilling to admit she did feel dead on her feet, but didn't want to leave any without care while her sister was one of the injured.

Taking a sip of the hot rich brew and she nodded. "Ye run along and get rest. I will rouse up Allanah to take over for a while."

True to her word, she soon had the young White Silk off and running. Doling out the healing teas and checking bandages. Once satisfied that one issue was handled, she soon was moving down the hall towards Luc's study with a tray in her hands, laden with more coffee and some breakfast, for he hadn't had much of anything the night before.

He should have still been in bed as far as she was concerned, but she was aware that he was restless and irritated over recent events. "Good morning Love." Softly spoken words bringing his eyes up from the papers scattered over the massive wood desk.

"What's this?" Steel-gray eyes moving to the tray far more used to seeing a servant with something like that then his wife.

"Ye nae had anything last night, and as ye were also injured, I thought ye best keep you your strength." It was true, she wasn't a domestic sort of creature, but didn't mind making a delivery of such a nature every so often.

Sliding the laden try down on a side table she would let him collect what he wished and just took up her own mug once more. Finding a chair across from him, she sank down with the soft hissing of leather and sipping. "Perhaps ye can now fill me in on ye trip."

Over the meal he did just that. Telling her everything of any interest at all and she listened with the occasional nodding of her head.

"We may need to check to see if the Bounty may have been increased. Seems to me, that many involved in a single effort, is nae as prudent for the price." Commenting upon what he was telling her about.

"I was thinking the same thing Love." Luc finally settled back with the plate of food consumed, nursing a steaming cup of coffee in his large battle worn hands, pondering now also.

"I will have some of mine look into the matter." Fio's ice green eyes narrowing faintly with more then a little irritation showing in the gleaming depths, obviously not pleased about any of it. "I also have sent word to my Father. He is looking into this matter about Pyrion."

"Has he learned anything yet?" Lucius gazed over the edge of the mug at Fiona in question.

"Nae much as yet. There are about four small villages thus far that have been razed. Some of the Mohira also seem to be missing." The frown moving on her brow alerted him even before the feeling was captured.
