Volume 2 • Issue 3 • Page 1RhyDin - March 2007

On the first of February, the election results were not the only thing put on display for the citizens of RhyDin. Few got to see the grisly sight set up in the main town square due to the quick work of the authorities.

One of the city's night patrol men (name withheld for legal purposes) had been out during his usual shift when he encountered a strange woman burning a dead body in the streets. The authorities are unsure about what exactly happened next but are positive that the unknown woman, whoever she may be, was involved with what happened to the patrol man. He was found in the early morning hours, after going missing for several hours, crucified.

He was found completely drained of blood; an autopsy confirmed this was the cause of death and pointed out that two small marks were found on his neck. The man had also been castrated and disemboweled at some point during the night although the medical examiner said it would take some time to pinpoint exactly when that had occurred. The man's eyes had been removed at some

point, as well, and his mouth and ears had been sewn shut.

Across the bottom of the cross, a message was carved unevenly, "You cannot stop this." Authorities believe that this murder may be somehow connected to those that have been going on in the West End for some weeks now, although those have tapered off lately. However, there is also evidence that shows that this may be a start to an entirely new string of crimes. Never have the previous West End murder victims been found drained of blood, victims of a vampire. There was also nothing linking this most recent crime to the Scathachian Sisters in any way as many of the others have.

The authorities also have reason to believe that this most recent murder is connected to the poem found in last month's edition of this paper entitled "RhyDin at Night" (reprinted below). It has been hypothesized that the poem was merely a warning to this grisly murder and the authorities ask the citizens to be on the lookout for further evidence that may lead to the discovering of the perpetrator.

"RhyDin at Night"
Watch the town square for my call,
I'm about to deck the hall,
You send your boys out to play,
But I'm here to stay,
Your cries for mercy make me grin,
Your squirming last moments dare my sin.

Storm Divine Presumed Dead

In the early morning hours of February 15, the home and hostel of Storm Divine was found to be burned to the ground. Inside there was no sign of a body, though most of the interior was reduced to ashes. The floorboards that remained were smeared with blood. Neighbors had seen her in and around the house in the hours preceding the fire and the smell of burning flesh was reported. She is presumed dead.

It is unclear who did this to her or why and an investigation is underway. The RhyDin Guard, overworked and overwhelmed with the other happenings in the city, seems to have little information. Charles Dinkens captain of the district in question said "It is tragedy and the guard is looking into all the clues it has found. However, with so much violence happening in the city, it is hard to say when or if we will have any new information."

The night of the attack, a High Elf named Assadar was found at the site and apprehended. He was later released after interrogation revealed he was not involved. Sources close to the Oracle have reported a small group of people,

including Assadar are doing their own investigation, and that even SPI has gotten involved. No leads have been reported as of press time.

This comes in a particularly hard time for the city as a whole, and the Guard stresses that people should not walk in alone or even in small groups but either take coaches or travel in groups of four or more. Dinken's warned, "This is a time in our cities history when walking alone or even with your close friends is not possible. People must understand that the city is at war on many fronts and they should behave accordingly."

Local RhyDin Watch Requests Your Assistance

February 28, 2007

A Local drunk was found broken and near dead just outside the Red Dragon Inn. This person had multiple broken bones and multiple internal injuries. The cause is reported to be extreme blunt force trauma possibly due to a couple of nasty falls. The RhyDin Watch are currently investigating this. Anyone that was near or around the RDI on the afternoon/evening of February 28th is asked to please contact your local area Watch office.

Better Beaches Needed

Gavilean Starfare

Our once pristine waters around RhyDin have become grossly polluted. Is this the result of the influx of pirates, or is our industry dumping on us? We hope our new Governor will address this problem and provide us with water that won't ignite and burn the pants off us. Concerned Citizens for Clean Water.
