The Sound of Desperation

"Again?"

As the hint of bells chimed piteously down the docks the man turned in obvious irritation at the imminent arrival.

"Enough, she's just a child in search of her father." The woman checking his inventory against the clipboard in her hand chastised.

"Yea, like we don't see plenty of 'em around these parts," smirked one of the dock-hands as he lifted the heavy crate with help.

Pale and bedraggled, Dayaniera turned the corner, her passive face giving no hint that their conversation had been easy enough to hear by one trained in such things.

She launched into her description of her father yet again. Now more rote than a learned speech.

Despite the woman's initial sympathy she could offer no leads.

Turning on the dismal sound of clinking bells to depart she was stopped by a golden eyed man headed toward one of the docked ships.

"Did you say he could move with the shadows? Like shifting through them?"

"Yes." Dayaniera turned hopeful eyes upward. "Yes, yes he can, he manipulates them in--"

"Yea. Yea. A guy like that can be found at the Red Dragon. He's always hangin all over that one hot piece of --"

"Right! Red Dragon! Thank you!" Already running away to the frantic chime of bells, she didn't hear the rest of his statement.

"***, too bad that one's bad mojo. Seriously bad mojo."[/color:ca380a6af1]

Shamrock Shindig 2010 is just a few days away!

That night, almost any business that served beverages in Rhydin City had found themselves with a delivery of fresh new coasters. Taverns, restaurants, coffee shops, tea houses and even a few little bakeries had been given the pulp-board coasters, and they were easily found all over town.

Shamrock Shindig is almost here!

Peace. Serenity. In the heart of the WestEnd.

Newly opened, the Zen Gardens Building will quickly become the WestEnd's most desirable address.

This live/work building has recently been fully renovated, and features 8 custom lofts, each with their own personal, private balconies with the most stunning views available, open floor plans, light wood floors, huge windows, top-of-the-line appliances and cabinetry in the kitchens, and to-die-for bathrooms.

The building also features four commercial spaces, which are being used as an art gallery/bookstore, dance and yoga studio, a Realtor's office, and a cafe. Two of these spaces are currently available for lease and can be retrofitted to suit your business needs.

But the secret of the Zen Gardens is on its roof - a beautiful, Japanese-inspired rooftop garden! The garden has plenty of secluded, private spaces for meditation or trysts, plus open spaces perfect for parties and celebrations.

Come by the Zen Gardens Building and ask for a tour. We guarantee that once you see all that Zen Gardens has to offer, you'll want to live and maybe work here, too!

Foul Odors Polluting Dockside Atmosphere

Rumors are starting to spread among the sailing citizens and seafaring visitors of Rhy'Din concerning the state of the air. Many people are beginning to report a lingering stench tainting up their oxygen supplies these days, and nearly everyone is certain that it's not just a batch of bad fish. Local fishermen are beginning to complain that whatever the source may be, on the whole it's giving their businesses a bad name.

Resident fisherman Basil Wood was among the many rumor-mongers available for questioning concerning this strange and stinky phenomenon. "It's not so bad down by the docks themselves," says Wood. "Closer to the water, it's all the usual smells of the sea and trade. But any time I come ashore for a pint, the deeper I get into the City, the more I can smell it."

Complaints have been pouring into the City Watch concerning the stink, but so far city officials are uncertain as to what might be the cause. Watchman Theo Dunlap was among those available for questioning concerning the matter.

"It's a really rancid stink," says Dunlap. "I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's sure not something I've ever smelled before. It's true that you don't smell it so bad down by the docks themselves, but all the surrounding businesses seem caught in this invisible fog of nasty. It's almost like rotten eggs, but worse. It's like rotten eggs on top of rotten meat on top of a whole truckload of rotten everything. At first we thought maybe some folks were using one of the abandoned warehouses as a trash heap instead of relying on the city dump."

Dunlap and his fellow Watch members go on to report, however, that after investigating nearly every abandoned warehouse they could think of, no such evidence was discovered. "All the empty ones are clean, though," reports Dunlap. "Except of course for your usual squatter or gang hideout. None of those places are full of garbage, and the streets are pretty clean too." As clean as Dockside can really get, that is.

Other city officials are discussing an investigation into the sanitation systems, as some citizens are concerned that there might be a sewer blockage causing the stench. "The trouble with that is," states Grady Welch, lead sanitation technician for that area of the city, "is that the sewers are so huge. There's miles of tunnels down there under the city. It'll take us weeks, maybe even months, searching through all that muck."

In the meantime, citizens are advised to take care of their noses. When venturing through the Dockside district, it may be wise to keep a bottle of perfume or cologne handy just to help your nostrils combat the stench.
